I know the methods insurers use to push you to settle for less.

My 14 years as an insurance defense attorney taught me how my injury case opponents think and strategize. When you choose me, you choose that intuition.

Working with an experienced attorney can be the difference between a lowball settlement and the compensation you deserve. Don’t let anyone talk you into accepting less. Team up with an advocate who has insider knowledge of the other side’s tactics.

How I handle injury cases

Your clock started the day you were hurt.

ORS 12.110 · ORS 30.275

In Oregon, two years from the date of your accident is the standard time limit for filing a personal injury lawsuit. If a city, county, state agency or other public body may be responsible, written notice is usually due much sooner: within 180 days.

Put in the date and see where you stand. Exceptions can shorten or extend these windows, so treat the result as a reason to call, not a final answer.

General information, not legal advice. Minors, injuries discovered later, wrongful death and other situations follow different rules (ORS 12.110, 12.160, 30.020, 30.275).

Three steps, and you only take the first.

  1. ¶ 1

    Tell me what happened

Call 541-500-8082 or send a brief description online. Personal injury consultations are free, and we will talk about whether you may have a case.

  2. ¶ 2

I take on the other side

I analyze your case, gather what proves it and deal with the insurance companies, so their calls come to me instead of you.

  3. ¶ 3

    You focus on recovery

I push for a fair settlement, and I am prepared to take your case to trial if they refuse. Your job is to get better.

Edward H. Talmadge

I began practicing law in 2001 and have owned my own firm since 2014. I take a collaborative approach: sound advice from years of experience, while staying with each client’s needs and the outcome they want.

My passion for justice comes from wanting to help people in tough situations. I work to thoroughly analyze every case so that I can advocate with impact for my personal injury, bankruptcy and criminal defense clients. Born and raised in the Willamette Valley, most people in Albany know me from my bus advertisements.

“I love to collaborate with my clients and help them move forward in whatever way I can.”

Plain answers before you call.

Still unsure? Call 541-500-8082. A short conversation is usually the fastest answer.

Is the first consultation free?

Personal injury consultations are free. Call the office or send a short description of what happened, and we will set a time to talk about whether you may have a case. For criminal defense, bankruptcy and family law matters, call to talk about your situation and next steps.

How long do I have to file an injury claim in Oregon?

Two years from the date of your accident is the standard time limit for filing a personal injury lawsuit in Oregon. Exceptions may apply, and claims against a public body usually need written notice within 180 days. Use the deadline finder, then call so we can check the dates that apply to you.

What should I do right after an accident?

Get care first. Then, as soon as you are able, write down how the accident happened, keep a daily log of your pain and how your injuries affect you, note missed work and other losses, and summarize every conversation with witnesses, medical staff and insurance representatives. If you can’t, ask a close friend or family member to help.

What if I was partly at fault?

Even if you’re partially at fault for your accident, or if you don’t think your injuries are serious, you may still be entitled to compensation. That is worth a free conversation before you accept anything from an insurer.

Will my case have to go to trial?

I work hard to get the other side to the negotiating table for a settlement that works for you. If they refuse, I am prepared to take your case to trial and present it to a jury.

Do you only take cases in Albany?

My office is in Albany, my hometown. I represent people in Corvallis, Salem, Eugene, Lebanon and throughout Linn and Benton counties.

Suffered a traumatic injury? I will fight for you.
